FAQ

Q: HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY WHIP?

When you buy a high-quality, handmade whip, you can expect it to last for many years, if you take good care of it. For the best results, apply a light coat of leather dressing twice a year. Never, ever use oil – it will weaken and break down the leather.

Q: WHAT DO I DO IF MY WHIP GETS WET?

Leather whips and water don’t mix very well, over time. Ideally, I recommend you keep your whip out of the wet weather and away from water. If your whip does happen to get wet, simply dry with a soft cloth and apply a light coat of leather dressing. I suggest you store your whip in a dark, dry place.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KANGAROO AND COW LEATHER?

Kangaroo leather is the strongest leather in the world. I believe it’s about four times stronger than cowhide of the same thickness. Given kangaroo hide is also light weight, it is perfect for more intricate whip making. Cowhide whips are quite thick and are better in harsh conditions.

Q: DO YOU SHIP YOUR WHIPS OVERSEAS?

My custom-made whips are sought-after by collectors and performers based here is Australia and in countries all over the world. My systems are set-up to take orders and ship whips to wherever you’re located. Contact me if you’d like to know more about international shipping.

Q: WHY SHOULD I GET A RP SCHULTZ WHIP?

I have been a whipmaker for more than 30 years. My clients tell me they like that I am very particular. I have been known to unplait a whip and start again, if it’s not perfect! If you value attention to detail, experience and stunning handcrafted whips, I am your whipmaker.

Q: CAN I BUY A WHIP FROM YOU IF I DON’T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT?

Of course. I know not everyone has access to PayPal or would prefer not to create a PayPal account. That's why I have a number of different payment options available, including direct credits and direct debits using Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
